Task Definition for
Motives and Impact of Early European Explorers

Learning Objective:  Together, as historians, we will understand the reasons for exploring North America by looking for specific details about the people and nations involved in exploration.

1.   The information in the first column (“Motives for Exploring”) may be written in incomplete sentences.
2.   The information in the second column must be written in complete sentences.  Do not forget to use correct grammar and conventions.

Choose four different colors to indicate with a sketch where each nation explored in North America. Use website one to gather your information.
1.   The areas must be colored accurately.
2.   You must include typical map features on your map, such as:
·     A title
·     A map key
·     A compass rose
Impact of European Explorers
Use website two and three to gather information about individual explorers and their impact on the new world.
1.   The information in the first column (“Area Explored”) may be written in incomplete sentences.
2.   The information in the second and third columns (“Objectives” and “Results”) must be written in complete sentences.  Do not forget to use correct grammar and conventions.
